Obama is not the military's favorite candidate.

http://www.redstate.com/aglanon/2011/09/06/media-silent-as-audience-instructed-to-applaud-obama/
Not hard to understand. Just in the last year Obama has threatened to withhold military paychecks, the only real cuts in his proposals are military cuts, and Obama consistently denies the military's requests for troops and supplies based on his own political ambitions. Hard to support a guy who thinks you are the problem.

(Not) leading from behind

As usual, the Whitehouse displays more political gamesmanship than substance.

The Obama campaigning begins at the expense of the military.

And the Obama campaigning begins. Ignore what’s best for the country and the military and secure those liberal votes. This won’t, literally, blow up in our faces until after the election so why would Obama care?

The only downer bigger than having to trek back to the swamps of Washington, D.C., after spending a week jet skiing, tanning and snorkeling in the Caribbean would be if Scarlett Johansson promised to marry me, but Debbie Wasserman-Schultz came striding down the aisle instead.
Now that would really suck.
Alas, back to Capitol Hill I am, and it's good to see that the Left's "new tone" didn't take a pause while I was away.  Our moronic Vice President Joe Biden referred to conservatives as "barbarians at the gates."  Maxine Waters told the Tea Party to go straight to hell.  And deranged Teamster President Jimmy Hoffa introduced Barack Obama with this lovely ode to bipartisanship and working together:
Let's take these son of bitches out [Tea Party] and give America back to an America where we belong.
Biden's comment can be chalked up to the voices he hears inside his head, but regarding Hoffa, does he really think his goon squads don't belong to the America Obama devastated, with the President orchestrating policies that led to the first downgrade on U.S. debt, unemployment persistently above 9%, and burdensome regulations choking off industry?  In other words, how much more leeway does Hoffa want to give Obama to destroy this economy?
Sans earthquake and hurricane, not much changed in the month of August.  Liberal policies are still wrecking the country, and it looks like Obama will dig his stilettos in deeper and call for even more out-of-control deficit spending, aka "investments."
Stay tuned this week at HUMAN EVENTS for rapid reaction to and reporting from Obama's "jobs" speech to Congress on Thursday night.  Heck, BHO's currently at zero net jobs gained for the month of August, so the bar is very low.  If he promises to create just one new job in the next 30 days, it would be a vast improvement.
We'll also be over at the third GOP presidential debate on Wednesday night, with analysis on the winners and losers.
A big, big week.  Stay tuned to HumanEvents.com.  And if you need something to pick up your spirits, just remember this:  The NFL season starts Thursday.  That calls for an adult beverage now.  Hey, it's 5 p.m. somewhere around the world, isn't it?

Liberals hate conservative America.

The Arrogant Left Hates Rural, Conservative America.

“It seems unjust to me that someone would be charged when they were protecting their family,” state Sen. Shawn Keough, R-Sandpoint, said after the hearing. “I’m at a loss to understand why the U.S. government is pursuing this in the manner they are.”
(HT: The Spokesman Review)
Let me break this down for Representative Keough. I’ll be blunt here, but without any disrespect intended. Jeremy M. Hill, a US Citizen, from Northern Idaho, shot and killed a female grizzly bear which had entered his backyard while two of his children were playing. This forced the US Government to choose whether it valued the grizzly bear more or two children of a US citizen, who happened to live in a Conservative, rural county.

So the OR geek runs the numbers, and determines there’s about a p=0.75 that Mr. Hill voted against Barack Obama. At that point the current USG believes $50,000 and 1 year of prison for shooting an endangered species is condign punishment for not being liberal. It doesn’t even begin to address the loss of the precious grizzly bear. Mr. Hill is therefore having the book thrown at him. The grizzly, as far as Liberal Democrats are concerned, was supposed to eat Mr. Hill’s kids. Predators do keep the balance.
At this point you have to be wondering. Who sprinkled the PCP in Repair_Man_Jack’s Cheerios? The government doesn’t actually hate people like Mr. Hill. Mr. Hill can hold a job. He produces revenue. They may not respect him, but they can fill a whole bunch of EBT Cards by milking the poor, foolish herd of tax-paying bovines.
But no; you would be wrong. Let me explain to you what the Left under Barack Obama thinks of rural, Conservatives as human beings. We give you the rational and open-minded Congressman Andre Carson. He offers us a bright and shining example of the typical American Liberal.
Rep. Andre Carson, a Democrat from Indiana who serves as the CBC’s chief vote counter, said at a CBC event in Miami that some in Congress would “love to see us as second-class citizens” and “some of them in Congress right now of this tea party movement would love to see you and me…hanging on a tree.” Carson also said the tea party is stopping change in Congress, likening it to “the effort that we’re seeing of Jim Crow.”
Politico.com
But that’s just one idiot, Repair_Man, you can’t judge all liberals by the words of Congressman Carson. He is uniquely qualified to represent citizens from the Lower Quartile in intellect and achievement in Congress. He, like no other member of Congress since Senator Earnest Hollings retired, can empathize with what it is like to be stupid on a daily basis.
Yes, that is just one idiot. However, I don’t have to go any further than my daily list of blog-reads to get you several more. Instapundit links me to the latest smear being waged against GOP Candidate Michele Bachmann.
Bachmann attended a Christian Musical festival in Iowa on a rainy day in August. During the festival, Bachmann gave a speech. She made a fairly lame and inoffensive attempt at humor. “Who likes wet people?” She inquired of the crowd. The left-wing smear machine then launched into overdrive.
An edited video immediately surfaced that made it appear that Congresswoman Bachmann asked “Who likes white people?” This travesty was quickly set straight when an unedited video from the festival came into the public domain. Yet, even as the truth put on its boots, Michelle Castillo of the always fake, but accurate NBC News wasted no time in spreading the dishonesty.
Stacy McCain describes the utter chicanery below.
Castillo writes: Everything that comes out of Michele Bachmann’s mouth is gold. A new video has her asking a crowd of people, “Who likes white people?” It doesn’t make any sense, so many explanations are surfacing from “White People Soul Power” being the band that played before, to the fact it was raining and Bachmann is asking about “wet” people.
My first thought was to search the actual concert manifest for White People Soul Power. Here is the Main Stage performer list. Here is 99.5FM The Pulse Rock Stage performance manifest. The Tent Stage featured the following artists. The Truth Talk Stage featured mostly revival preaching, rather than musical acts.
Help me out here. I can’t seem to find where The White People Soul Power Band ever performed. Does anyone have a manifest for the Crazed White Racist Stage? Oh, that’s right, apparently there wasn’t one. I’m sure glad that these baseless and malicious accusations weren’t leveled against anyone nice and sensitive like Maxine Waters.
And that “Go to Hell” sentiment voiced by Congresswoman Waters is not just a liberal taking point. It’s not just posturing. Just recently, the United States Government had a choice to make. A man in Northern Idaho saw two of his children being menaced by a grizzly bear in his own backyard. He grabbed a gun and shot the bear. I have no knowledge whether Mr. Jeremy Hill has attended a Tea Party rally or convention. One thing I can say for sure is that the liberals who currently run Washington, DC are doing everything in their power to make sure this man’s life turns into a living hell.

Is social security a Ponzi scheme?

Ezra Klein vs. the Dictionary

Ezra Klein must lie to win his argument
Ezra Klein is the twenty something leftwing hack who has never had a real job in the private sector beyond the lefty think tank and pundit shops in DC. Somehow or another he got a cushy gig pretending to be objective at the Washington Post where he continues to mouth off on economic policy from a decidedly left-wing bent.
It’s gotten so bad that Ezra Klein is forced to play word games and lie to win an argument on social security. Klein wants to win an argument against the Republicans on social security. So what does he do? He has to reinvent a new definition of ponzi scheme.
Klein relies on liberal blogger/polisci guy Jonathan Bernstein to give him his definition, which is to define a ponzi scheme as “a fraud that relies on new investors being unaware of the program’s financing mechanism.” And OH MY GOSH!!!!! social security is fully transparent therefore it cannot be a Ponzi scheme.
EZRA IS BETTER THAN WELL WHO CARES. HE WINS!!!!!
Except he only wins by willfully changing the definition of a ponzi scheme. I say willfully because he can’t be that stupid can he?
From the American Heritage Dictionary:
a form of fraud in which belief in the success of a nonexistent enterprise is fostered by the payment of quick returns to the first investors from money invested by later investors.
From Webster’s Dictionary:
an investment swindle in which some early investors are paid off with money put up by later ones in order to encourage more and bigger risk
From Wikipedia:
A Ponzi scheme is a fraudulent investment operation that pays returns to separate investors, not from any actual profit earned by the organization, but from their own money or money paid by subsequent investors.
And my personal favorite comes from the Securities and Exchange Commission:
A Ponzi scheme is an investment fraud that involves the payment of purported returns to existing investors from funds contributed by new investors. Ponzi scheme organizers often solicit new investors by promising to invest funds in opportunities claimed to generate high returns with little or no risk.
Social security takes my money that I am forced to invest in the system and pays it to people who were forced into the system before me. The only major difference with a dictionary definition ponzi scheme is that the system is not designed to incentivize future risk on my part. But then it does not have to because I am forced into the program. And it sounds pretty damn close to the SEC definition of a ponzi scheme.
Ezra Klein can manipulate all the words he wants, but when you get to the actual definition of a ponzi scheme, social security sure as heck looks a lot like one.
By the way, exit point: it is still a ponzi scheme by Klein’s definition isn’t it? How many people really know that their social security is funded based on IOU’s? Don’t people think their social security money goes into a separate, segregated fund when it really is being used to fund the federal government? I betcha most are under that impression.

Obama Admin attacks American companies, tells them to export jobs or else.

DOJ Advises Gibson Guitar to Export Labor to Madagascar

The Gibson Guitar saga has taken a sinister turn.
It seems that the Department of Justice wasn’t satisfied with merely raiding the law abiding factories of Gibson Guitar with armed agents, shutting down their operation costing them millions, and leaving the American company in the dark as to how to proceed without going out of business.
Now, according to CEO Henry Juszkiewicz, agents of the United States government are bluntly informing them that they’d be better off shipping their manufacturing labor overseas.
In an interview with KMJ AM’s “The Chris Daniel Show,” Juszkiewicz revealed some startling information.
CHRIS DANIEL:  Mr. Juszkiewicz, did an agent of the US government suggest to you that your problems would go away if you used Madagascar labor instead of American labor?
HENRY JUSZKIEWICZ:  They actually wrote that in a pleading.
CHRIS DANIEL:  Excuse me?
HENRY JUSKIEWICZ:   They actually wrote that it a pleading.
CHRIS DANIEL:  That your problems would go away if you used Madagascar labor instead of our labor?
HENRY JUSKIEWICZ:  Yes
So the government attacked them in the first place by citing obscure regulations that probably weren’t violated about importation of wood. Now they are suggesting that all these problems would go away if they simply exported their labor.
Had it simply been said in passing by an agent, one could write it off as a lone sarcastic agent, trying to push buttons.  But the fact that they actually wrote it in the pleading is a level of hubris that goes well beyond over zealous law enforcement officials and passes straight into what can easily be translated as an out of control and corrupt targeting of an American corporation.
When President Obama gives his jobs speech next week, let’s hope he has an answer for why our government would want to force and coerce corporations to send jobs overseas.
Here’s the audio of the CEO making the incredible allegation:

Jobs are not a commodity that can be manufactured by the government, to be showered upon a deserving populace as gifts.  The Obama Administration always speaks of them in such terms, discussing “job creation” as if the government need only add a bit more water and fertilizer to make the American garden bloom with lush and vital employment.

In truth, a job is a transaction.  The employee sells his labor to the employer.

Why would you hire someone?  The short answer is “because you need them,” but to be more precise, you would hire someone for the same reason you would engage in any other voluntary transaction: because you value the employee’s labor more highly than the money you pay for it.  Conversely, the employee values his paycheck more than the time he sells you.  Many variables affect this equation, but it always comes down to a mutually beneficial exchange, in which both parties come away with increased value.

The government has considerable power to distort this transaction.  It can increase the cost of labor through regulations and mandates.  It can turn employees into ticking time bombs of liability, through aggressive government agencies on the prowl for reasons to sue employers.  It can tip the scales in favor of labor unions through raw government power, creating uncertainty that raises the cost of all labor… especially when the government is actively working to help unions recruit new members.

Meanwhile, class warfare and bottomless welfare benefits distort the ability of workers to appreciate the value of their own labor.  Poor economic growth from a shrinking private sector makes new hires less appealing to business.  Politicians have made a naturally simple and attractive transaction become confusing, opaque, and unappealing.  If you want a job, you should push for the overhead cost imposed on your labor to be reduced, so your value will become more evident to employers who have a good reason to hire you. — John Hayward
