‘Obama’s request to address Congress at 8 p.m. Washington time on Sept. 7 drew criticism from Republicans earlier because that also is the time that eight of the candidates running for the party’s presidential nomination were scheduled to debate at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California.
Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus said in a message on Twitter that Obama’s plan to give the address on the night of the debate is “further proof” that the Obama White House “is all politics all the time.”
White House press secretary Jay Carney dismissed the criticism, saying the scheduling was “coincidental.” ‘
Another amazing coincidence.
