The only downer bigger than having to trek back to the swamps of Washington, D.C., after spending a week jet skiing, tanning and snorkeling in the Caribbean would be if Scarlett Johansson promised to marry me, but Debbie Wasserman-Schultz came striding down the aisle instead.
Now that would really suck.
Alas, back to Capitol Hill I am, and it's good to see that the Left's "new tone" didn't take a pause while I was away.  Our moronic Vice President Joe Biden referred to conservatives as "barbarians at the gates."  Maxine Waters told the Tea Party to go straight to hell.  And deranged Teamster President Jimmy Hoffa introduced Barack Obama with this lovely ode to bipartisanship and working together:
Let's take these son of bitches out [Tea Party] and give America back to an America where we belong.
Biden's comment can be chalked up to the voices he hears inside his head, but regarding Hoffa, does he really think his goon squads don't belong to the America Obama devastated, with the President orchestrating policies that led to the first downgrade on U.S. debt, unemployment persistently above 9%, and burdensome regulations choking off industry?  In other words, how much more leeway does Hoffa want to give Obama to destroy this economy?
Sans earthquake and hurricane, not much changed in the month of August.  Liberal policies are still wrecking the country, and it looks like Obama will dig his stilettos in deeper and call for even more out-of-control deficit spending, aka "investments."
Stay tuned this week at HUMAN EVENTS for rapid reaction to and reporting from Obama's "jobs" speech to Congress on Thursday night.  Heck, BHO's currently at zero net jobs gained for the month of August, so the bar is very low.  If he promises to create just one new job in the next 30 days, it would be a vast improvement.
We'll also be over at the third GOP presidential debate on Wednesday night, with analysis on the winners and losers.
A big, big week.  Stay tuned to HumanEvents.com.  And if you need something to pick up your spirits, just remember this:  The NFL season starts Thursday.  That calls for an adult beverage now.  Hey, it's 5 p.m. somewhere around the world, isn't it?
