The Altlantic dreams.

It’s a very simple formula, but one the atlantic missed. You take a group of establishment republicans, about 25% of the party by current polling, add in 15% for the moderates, set up primaries and OPEN primaries in half a dozen liberal and moderate states, throwing in only a token conservative state or two, use liberal media moderators, and declare the race over before enough votes are in to matter. This explains, and perfectly matches, the results we see.
Ask yourself how the current nomination process would differ if only registered republicans were allowed to vote, if only moderate and conservative moderators were used, and if the first half dozen primaries were held in consistently red states. Romney would not be the answer.
