I have an idea.
Lets make government's #1 priority finding the most economical way to solve their given problem. Let's take the EPA. Most of their rules lately are really about energy production, so lets require them to find the most economical way to produce energy. EPA pawn #1 says solar. Nope, canned. Pawn #2 wind? Fired. Pawn #3 ocean wave generators? Clean out your desk. #4 nuclear and fossil? We have a winner! You are the new head of the EPA. Clean the environment WITHOUT screwing with cheap energy thereby wrecking our economy.

The IRS takes tax money, so lets require them to find the most economical way to tax the population. Pawn 1# progressive tax system with deductions for... Stop, hit the road. Pawn #2 A tiered system with... Find a new day job. #3 Flat tax? Winner. One simple mathematical step, not even a full equation in itself. Say 15%. Everybody pays 15% regardless. Think the 50% of the population paying no taxes now will still wants to tax everybody when they have skin in the game?
